DRUNKEN POST PARTY

What a great idea Shelly! My Husband and I had THE MOST ENORMOUS FIGHT earlier tonight. I cried. We've made up now, but I felt it necessary to Drink The Wine. It's now Very Late Indeed and I am mostly drunk, although I did have a packet of crisps earlier.

How YOU doin'?

OMG I am so sorry about your fight. :/ I can understand the turning to wine. Me, I don't have any wine, just jack daniels I'm afraid. I'm also afraid it's very quickly going to my head. But oh! *huggles*

omg you're in--where are you? I know the UK, yes? It would be Very Late there now--like 1am or 2am or so?

JD is good! I only am drinking wine because I ran out of vodka last week...

Yes! I'm in Durham, very North England. It's exceedingly late, 0120hrs. But you know when you get so grrrr inside that you can't eat or sleep? That's me tonight. Where are you, exactly? Apart from across the ocean!

Oh my God, my ex is from Durham. Like ex as in over 10 years ago ex. Oh my God. Sorry, freaking out!

I live in Georgia, west of the city of Atlanta in the southeast US.

OMG, I probably have made so many Americanisms in my fics--I just found out recently that I may have made Blaise Scottish due to some language that I used in that fic. Although I'm not really sure. But he could be Scottish Italian and black, eh? I mean, his mum had lots of husbands!

Anyway, yes! I hate that grr feeling. I always replay conversations in my mind over and over again and think of what I should have said, or how I could have said something better--it's like my mind won't shut off.

God, how freaky! Was he evil?

Georgia. Do you have one of those lovely southern accents then? Actually, no, your fics are fine. I shall teach you how to swear in English, if you like, that's about the only niggle; but you rarely use bad language anyway. I'm forever shouting (at fest fics in particular), "Noone says 'bloody fuck'!"

I've been silently seething at him most of the night, although he has said sorry. I keep thinking, 'should have said that to him! Git.' But I can't be arsed to fight, so just sit quietly, drinking the wine...grrr...

Oh no, he wasn't evil. Actually if anyone was evil in that relationship, it was me. I was very...young and stupid. I actually feel pretty awful about the way I treated him to this day. Of course he's probably well over it by now!

I only have a southern accent when I'm really tired or if I get really drunk, but most of the time I have a very plain accent--here people would say I have no accent at all, and a lot of people have trouble believing that I was actually born and raised here. I also have kind of an embarrassing habit of mimicking whomever I'm talking to--their accent. It's completely unconscious, but I do it all the time. When I went to visit London, by the end of the trip, I couldn't stop with the British accent that of course constantly fluctuated. I'm sure people thought I was quite strange.

Ok, I go all tl;dr when sober, as well, but I just babble when drinking. So sorry about that!

I'm glad your gitish husband said sorry at least. Slap him tomorrow and say it's from me! ;)

I bet your accent is lovely though (to skip back around here). I remember my ex's was particularly nice with the northern accent. Made me very weak!

OMG I totally do the accent thing too! I don't really have much of an accent, but my dad's welsh and my mum's geordie so I am as they say round here, 'neither nowt nor summat' (anything or nothing).

Babble away!

Gittish is right. Usually he's great and we rarely argue, but when we do I could strangle him. I shall slap him, fear not!

Did you like London?

Shelly[info]shellydkitty on July 18th, 2008 08:06 pm (UTC)
Haha! That's crazy about the accent thing! I thought I was the only one who did that!

Are you from Durham? Is it a pretty big city? I know nothing about it--actually, I'm sure I did, but I can't remember it now.

I LOVED London--seriously, loved it so much. First of all, I'm a total (what's the word?) Anglophile? Is that it? Anyway, yes, it's amazing that two sets of people who speak the same language can have such different culture--I imagine it's the same in Australia as well.

We stayed in Earl's Court and I even loved the tube and walking everywhere (except when wearing heels--that was a mistake) because I live in a place where you must have a car to get around, and I saw Dan in Equus and Patrick Stewart in The Tempest while I was there, which was--they both were brilliant experiences--like once in a lifetime experiences (only, um, seeing Equus again in NYC, so twice in a lifetime?) and anyway, I never wanted to leave. Ever.

And I don't think I ever paid for any drinks--and I had 3 blokes make dates with me my first night there (I didn't go on any of them, but it was really flattering) and they weren't all...I don't know--American men are just skeevy. And cheesy or full of themselves, and the men I met in London were polite and friendly and flirtatious yes, and they said the most outragious things (but apparently I did too, since I said I was double fisting--which means in America, having two drinks at once--apparently it means something much different on your side of the ocean) and yes, see babbling again.

Oh, and I danced with Prince Harry. At the Troubadour. But unfortunately, I was so drunk that night--the drunkest I've been ever probably, that I don't remember it. At all--I mean, a flash or two of his chest (he is like so tall--well, I'm really short) but my friends had to tell me the next day. I was shitting myself--can't believe I don't remember it!

Um so yes. I liked London. (short answer.Heh)

Yes, I'm from Durham. No, it's a pocket-sized city, but with the best cathedral in the world. Srsly. You need to come visit it!

I saw Tempest! But not Equus (boo!). Did you enjoy Dan's bum? The pictures were lovely...
Did you do lots of museums and stuff too? I love London lots. You danced with Harry???? OMG!!! It wasn't very long ago that I was having to tell myself that it's OK to find him attractive in uniform now, he's not jail bait any more! *feels old*
Have never been out with an American man to compare. I can vouch for Irish men, Indian men and omigodyes Italian men. But the natives here are mostly friendly... when they're not being gits!

You don't happen to know any Olivers do you? (I had to ask--feel free to call me a dork--I am!)

You saw the Tempest! OMG, I am in lust with Patrick Stewart...and uh...Dan's bum. He's not jail bait anymore either, but my God, I still feel like a pervy old lady checking him out. Doesn't stop me though!

Indian men, really? The few Indian men that I've had experiences with over here have been...skeevy as well. Maybe it's just America. Trust me, you don't want to go out with an American man. I seriously need to get out of the country!

Ooo what's the cathedral's name? I'm gonna google it and see if I can find some pictures! I hopefully will be going back to UK someday, and I wanted to do a wider tour, so I'll definitely put that on the list! Unfortunately, we stayed in London for our whole trip, but I still feel like I didn't do enough. Also, unfortunately, my mates that came with me were mostly hungover every day (I believe one stayed drunk for three days straight) so I did do a couple of museums on my own--most of the touristy things I did on my own actually. Though the last day I dragged their butts out of bed and made them do the Eye with me.

LOL! Umm, 3 Olivers. Should I be worried?

Yes, Patrick Stewart. Yum. Indian men - they were anglo-indian, brothers, maybe I was just lucky (very). Irish are very sweet talkers...

Durham Cathedral! I think it goes by The Cathedral Church of Our Lady, Blessed Virgin and Christ the King, but life's too short...it's the best in the world. York Minster is a close second. Come and find an englishman!

Shelly[info]shellydkitty on July 18th, 2008 08:37 pm (UTC)
Haha! Not worried! Just my ex is named Oliver, and last I heard, he was in Durham, and I thought I might ask because wouldn't that be the weirdest thing ever in the entire world. Okay that might an exaggeration, but yeah, anyway. Oliver must be a popular name, eh?

So um..yeah any last name of McCarrol? Or it might be two Ls at the end. I must be drunk to be asking this.

Come and find an englishman
From your lips to God's ears, I swear!

Lots of nice men in England. Oxford is good if you're on the pull. Educational too! Are American men that bad really?

Hahaha, I would die! Do you know that when I knew him, he had messy black hair and glasses? I can't even make this stuff up.

Are American men that bad really?

Yes. There's one that I've been in love with for like 3 years--actually four years. And not really in love--I'm being dramatic, but hard core crush anyway. He's awesome, but a diamond in the rough. Ooooo, yes, and you can hear him sing if you want! He has a band, he's really sweet and if you go to http://www.pleaserock.com there's a link to their myspace and their music and stuff--and he's Nick, that's the one I drool over all the time.

*sighs*

When were you in London? I was last there in Feb 2007 for two weeks, and I wanted to get tix for Equus, but when I mentioned it my friend that I was staying with said, "You don't want to queue up with all the teenagers to watch Harry Potter get his kit off, do you?" And I was too embarrassed to say, "Actually, now that you mention it ..."

To be fair, tho, she did go with me to see Love Song so I could lust over Cillian Murphy in person. *drools lots*

OMG, I missed you by a couple of weeks--I was there in early March of 2007. And I'd already bought tickets so there was no queuing up, and in fact, there actually wasn't very many teenagers in the audience the night I went--though they all were hanging around the stage door afterward. Though I may have not noticed, because we were front row center--and I didn't even know those were going to be my tickets! I bought them way in advance, and just said best available, and I about had a heart attack when he got all naked a few feet in front of me. Seriously, I was just like...oh God, I don't even know...

But actually it was a really brilliant play. Probably the best thing I've ever see Dan do--I was worried, since even though he's gotten better (and he really shined in OOtP) he still needed some work as an actor, but he was there, 100% and just--wow--seriously it's my second favorite theatre experience ever.

OMG, babble. OMG.

And Dan is short in person--seriously, really short.

And I've only heard good things about his performance. I don't know tho ... naked!Dan just a few feet from you? Were you really going to be that harsh of a critic?

Isn't it funny how actors are always so wee? Gabriel Byrne walked past me in SoHo once, and it was so disappointing. He was no Tom Cruise or anything, but I'd expected ... more. Or heels.
